Overview
Multitudes screening is administered through a digital platform. It requires two devices: one for the educator (“test administrator”), and one for the student. During screening, the student will listen to audio and view pictures. They’ll respond out loud and by clicking or tapping answers on their device.
We are here to support you log in and explore the screener. If you need help, please contact ucsfmultitudes.zendesk.com
Get Ready
- I have two digital devices:
- Laptop or desktop computer, tablet, Chromebook.
- Note: Mobile devices (phones) are not supported.
- My devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- My Wi-Fi connection is good.
- My devices use the same operating system (this is not required but highly recommended).
- I can access the internet through Safari or Chrome (and I’ve installed the latest software updates).
- My devices access the internet the same way, through Safari or Chrome.
- IMPORANT: I enabled “pop-ups.” Often, these are automatically disabled.
- If pop-ups are blocked, the screener won’t “pop up” on your student device.
- If you don’t know how to allow pop-ups, that’s okay! You can do a quick internet search to find written or video instructions.
- I have a copy of the Administration Manual for reference.
Get Set
- Go to https://multitudes.ucsf.edu on your educator (“test administrator”) device.
- Log in using your Multitudes login email and password.
- Check out the mock classrooms on your dashboard. Choose a grade you’d like to explore. (Screening tasks are grade-specific!)
- Choose a mock student to screen. By default, both English and Spanish screening are available for all students.
- Click on “Universal Screener.” Choose which language you’d like to explore first. You will see space to enter in a 4-character code.
Go!
- Now, go to https://multitudes.ucsf.edu/student-game on your student device.
- Type in the 4-character code you see on your educator device.
- Screening will begin!
- Make sure your student device’s audio is turned on and the volume is loud enough for you to hear! If duplicate audio plays from your educator device, turn down the volume or turn off the audio on that device.
Troubleshooting
- Check the “Get Ready” list above. Did you do everything there?
- Check the URLs (web addresses) on your devices. Are they typed correctly?
- Did you accidentally try to open both web sites on a single device, instead of two devices? Using Multitudes on one device is not recommended at this time.
- Are you accessing the internet through Safari or Chrome? Today, only Safari and Chrome internet browsers are recommended. It is not recommended to use any other internet browsers.
- Are your devices using different ways of accessing the internet? Your devices must access the internet the same way. Both devices should use Safari or both devices should use Chrome. Do not mix and match.
- The Multitudes platform requires access to certain websites. If you are accessing Multitudes from school or district Wi-Fi, it’s possible some required URLs are being blocked. The following URLs must be enabled on your Wi-Fi network, (please note these URLs are not meant used by someone who manages a WiFi Network, if you click on most of these links they will NOT load for you):
