A screenshot is one of the quickest ways to show what's happening. It can help us better understand your question and work with you toward a solution. This article explains how to take a screenshot, make simple edits if you'd like, and upload it with your Help Center request.
Before You Begin
If something isn't working the way you expected, a screenshot can make it easier to explain what's happening.
You can edit your screenshot before uploading it:
- Focus on the part of the screen where the issue appears.
- Add arrows, circles, or other annotations to highlight what you're seeing.
How to Take a Screenshot
Mac
- Press Command + Shift + 4.
- Drag to select the part of the screen you want to capture.
- Release your mouse or trackpad to take the screenshot.
Chromebook
- Press the Chromebook screenshot keyboard shortcut: ctrl+shift+
- Make sure the Camera icon and the Partial Screenshot tool are selected.
- Drag a rectangle around the part of the screen you want to capture.
- Select Capture.
Your screenshot is saved to your Downloads folder.
iPad Without a Home Button
- Press the Power button and either Volume button at the same time.
- Open the Photos app to find your screenshot.
iPad With a Home Button
- Press the Home button and the Power button at the same time.
- Open the Photos app to find your screenshot.
Edit Your Screenshot (Optional)
You can edit your screenshot if you want to make the issue easier to see.
Crop the Screenshot
Cropping helps focus on the part of the screen that's related to your question.
Chromebook
- Open the screenshot.
- Select the Crop tool.
- Adjust the image to show the part of the screen you want to share.
- Save the image.
iPad
- Open the screenshot in the Photos app.
Select Edit
.
Select the Crop tool.
Adjust the image.
- Select Done.
Add Markup
Markup lets you point out the part of the screen you want us to look at.
Chromebook
- Open the screenshot.
Select the Drawing tool.
- Use the available tools to highlight the issue.
- Save the image.
iPad
- Open the screenshot.
- Select Edit.
Open the Markup toolbar.
- Choose a drawing tool.
- Add arrows, circles, or notes to highlight the issue.
- Select Done.
Upload Your Screenshot
- Make sure the screenshot is saved on the device you'll use to submit your Help Center request.
Note: If your screenshot is on another device, transfer it before submitting your request.
- Open the Help Center.
- Select Submit a request.
- Scroll to the bottom of the form.
- Select Choose a file or drag and drop here.
- Select your screenshot.
- Select Open.
After the file uploads, you'll see it attached to your request.
- Complete the rest of the request form.
- Select Submit.
